ELEAGUE’s Street Fighter V Invitational will split a massive $250,000 prize pool among the best players in May.
ELEAGUE has diversified its portfolio of games, by expanding to Street Fighter V. The best of those who play the video game produced by Capcom will compete for a huge guaranteed prize pool. A total of $250,000 is up for grabs in the ELEAGUE Street Fighter V Invitational and 32 players will fight for a chunk of it. The main competition will last for two months and the playoffs start on May 26.
ELEAGUE's Street Fighter V Invitational Starts on March 27
Kiichiro Urata, Chief Executive Officer at Capcom U.S.A was the one to break the news. The partnership with ELEAGUE is expected to draw more attention on Street Fighter V, a very popular fighting video game. The number of players is on the rise and there are plenty of people playing it at a professional level. It all starts on March 27, when the top 16 competitors in the Capcom Pro Tour and 60 other players invited by Capcom join the fray.
24 of the 32 players will advance from the preliminary round which takes place on the first weekend. The next four stages are scheduled for April 7, April 21, May 5 and May 12. Street Fighter V fans will see six players in action every week, with the best of them to lock horns in the final. The Red Bull Kumite and Combo are scheduled for May 27 and the entire tournament will be broadcasted on TBS live each week. The games will also air on Twitch, the platform of choice for most of those who watch professional gamers in action.
